Did you notice anything from my picture in my Feminine Friday post? Well, I cut off over 10 inches of hair and donated it to Locks of Love!
I can’t believe how much lighter my head fills! Wow! I haven’t had my hair this short in about 4-5 years! I like it and now I will begin again to grow it out for another donation to Locks of Love!
I wasn’t the only one to get a hair cut in my family. Last night, all 3 of the fellas cut their hair. Colt chose the basic burr, but Marty and Riley…well let me show you the picture:
Yes, my husband and youngest are sporting mohawks! Marty did it to play a prank on his co-workers and when Riley saw it, he wanted one as well. Here’s a better picture of Riley’s mohawk:
Marty will probably be cutting his off this weekend, but Riley REALLY wants to keep his. We’ll see!

It’s time once again for Feminine Friday over at Buildeth Her House. This is what I wore today.
The blouse is a pretty cream colored calico with a tiny strawberry print all over, I got it at a garage sale for about $1. The skirt is my favorite denim skirt that I bought new a few months back for around $30. As usual, I’m wearing my white leather walking shoes since today is errand day.

Since I decided to close down my photography blog, I will begin posting these over here on my Homestead Momma blog. I really enjoy doing these challenges and I hope you enjoy looking at what I’ve done.
It’s time once again for another Fix-It Friday over at i heart faces! Today we’ll be working with a photo of a beautiful girl that was taken during her Senior Portrait Session. It was provided to us by Angie Arthur Photography.
This is a lovely photo, but I thought it needed just a bit more “pop” to really make it stand out. This is how I edited the photo in Photoshop Elements 7:
-
Ran Amy McMaster’s “Squeaky Clean” action (flattened)
-
Ran Pioneer Woman’s “Boost” action (flattened)
-
Duplicated the background image and set the new layer to “soft light” at 40% opacity (flattened)
-
Ran Coffee Shop’s “Little Perk” action (flattened)
-
Ran Amy McMaster’s “Berries ‘n’ Cream” action (flattened)
-
Ran Pioneer Woman’s “Lovely” action (flattened)
-
Cropped the photo
-
Prepared it for the web
I think my edits did just what I planned on them doing. The picture is more vibrant and just a little urban, which seems to be a popular trend right now. Here’s my edited version:
Here’s a side-by-side comparison:

In the summer time, my kids are always asking for popsicles. These can really add up, especially the good healthy(ier) ones. So I started making my own. There are so many ways you can make them! All you need is a few ingredients, some recycled yogurt containers or muffin tin and some wooden craft stick. The first think you want to do if using the recycled yogurt containers is to cut off the lip over the top, this will make it much easier to get the popsicle out. I save these up and use them over and over. If you don’t want to use those, you can use a muffin tin to make these. You can even make smaller ones using a mini muffin pan or ice cube trays and use toothpicks instead of the craft sticks. The popsicles will probably need to freeze slightly before you put in the sticks, or you can cover the top with plastic wrap and stick the stick in through that. The plastic wrap will help hold the stick in place. Personally, I invested in some popsicle molds that I purchased at Dollar General a few years ago. I bought 4 sets of them and they have held up for quite a few years now. This makes it so easy!
-
Take yogurt or kefir and mix with fruit and freeze.
-
Fruit juice of all kinds make good popsicles
-
Make flavored milk (chocolate, vanilla, coconut, strawberry, etc) and pour the milk in the molds and freeze.
-
My Mom use to make them with simply frozen Kool Aid

These work well for me and are much cheaper than purchasing them individually. My kids love them!
