We’re visiting my brother in law this weekend so I have just a minute to pop in and leave an update. We are all doing well here. It’s been a busy week, I’ve finished up all the lesson plans and am getting ready for school to start here in just a couple of weeks (1st full week in September). I’m really excited about that and so are both boys. It’s been sooo hot here! Both of our airconditioners need to be serviced, so that will need to be done before we can even begin to find other internet service. Our old service was with our cell phone company (Cingular/AT&T) and we were using a wireless internet card that allowed us to get internet service from cell phone towers. It was just a tad faster than dial up, at least where we’re at, but was super fast when we would take it somewhere out of town to a larger city. I haven’t been happy with with as it was so slow, so when we can, we’ll be looking for high speed internet.
Well, the kids are getting restless (all 6 of them!!) They’re just finishing up breakfast while BIL & SIL are working with the milk cows, leaving me in charge! I need to go get the kitchen cleaned up and them all dresses!
Our internet card went out so, I’m back to updating my blog from the library, once a week and occassionally more than that. I am sooo frustrated with our internet issues. What makes it even worse, is that we have to continue paying for this service because we signed up for a 2 year contract with our cell phone company. We could buy a new internet card, but it will cost over $100, so we’re going to have to wait until we can afford it, which will probably be a while. Anyway, just wanted to let everyone know that we haven’t dropped off the face of the earth! All is well here and I’ll update again as soon as possible.
Sorry I haven’t been around much this week, I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather and catching up on some sewing I’ve been wanting to do.
Wednesday we popped some popcorn from our garden. It was yummy and the kids enjoyed using our old fashioned popcorn popper we bought at a garage sale!

Yesterday, I made 2 new headcovers, a cream colored one and one with a blue floral pattern. I also made the blouse I was wanting to make. It turned out really cute! This was the first time I’ve done darts and only the 2nd time I’ve done sleeves and collars. The collar on this one was put in different than the one I did before. It took me a bit to get it figured out, but once i did, it was easy. The sleeves went in really easy. This was a really easy pattern and the blouse turned out SOOO cute! There was only one problem….it didn’t fit me!! LOL!! I’m not too surprised, I have rather broad shoulders and I always have to buy blouses 1-2 sized larger. Unfortunately, this was the largest size pattern available. Also, the cuffs were too tight around my upper arms, which if the rest of the pattern had fit, I would have been able to alter that. Oh well!! It was good practice and I learned a lot from making it. Now, I need to figure out what I’m going to do with the blouse!

Tomorrow, we’ll be heading to my BIL’s farm for the weekend to spend some time with Marty’s brothers and familys. So, I won’t be updating any this weekend. Well I need to get off here and get some stuff done! The boys are suppose to be cleaning out the Suburban and later this afternoon, I may just let them play in the water while they wash it!
I received a couple of questions in my comments that I thought I’d answer here.
Q: I *love* the apron! What a beautiful job! And the pin cushion, it’s got to be the cutest I’ve ever seen. Was it your idea or a pattern?
A: The pattern for the donut pin cushion can be found HERE
Q: Did you use a pattern for your apron? Does it do up at the neck or is it one peice? Thanks for your great site.
A: I did us a pattern for the apron. I used Simplicity pattern #4987.

It is one piece around the neck, just slips over the head.
This morning I had to get up and take Marty to work so I could have the car to run a few errands. Riley woke up with a mild fever, I gave him some Tylenol and that seemed to take care of it, at least it never came back. I got back home about 9. I then cut out an apron I was wanting to make and started working on it. I also did 2 loads of laundry. Marty called about 12 and had us come out and eat lunch with him at work. Then we came home and I finished up my apron while Riley was napping and Colt was in his room. I’m REALLY happy with the apron!

This weekend I made this cute little pin cushion as a gift.

I thought it turned out too cute! I love the pin “sprinkles” on top!
Then on Friday I received these ADORABLE bookmarks from my diet buddy Kelly!

Aren’t they so cute!!
Both boys are home again, I sure did miss them while they were at my Parent’s house! It was entirely too quiet with them gone! I washed some more fabric today, that I bought this weekend. I’m going to make a blouse to go with my swisher skirt that I bought at a thrift store. I’m going to use McCall’s pattern #M5427. This weekend we will be going to my BIL & SIL’s farm for the weekend. We’re all looking forward to visiting with them! Well, I’m off, I’ve got to go pick up Marty in just a little bit!
Seventeen years ago, I married my best friend and the love of my life! Happy Anniversary Hunny!!

Marty and I met in February 1990. My best friend Tara and his best friend Ray were brother and sister. I had been out running around with Tara and our mutual friend Kelvin when we stopped off at Tara’s house. Ray was there along with Marty, getting ready to go bow fishing. Now, I’m really not an airhead, but I do have the bad habit of talking faster than my brain sometimes, so I can come across that way sometimes. Anyway, Tara & Kelvin were teasing me about something I said and Marty piped up “So, are you an airhead or what?”. Not the best of beginnings (LOL!!). But apparently Marty really liked me and started bugging Tara for my phone number. He called one night, about a week later and we spent nearly all night on the phone. Our first date was on Valentine’s day 1990. We were married 6 months later!
I am so thankful for the love and support I have received from Marty over the last 17 years and I look so forward to spending the rest of my life with my wonderful and sweet husband!
I’m not going to be around much today. I’m going to be working on Colt’s lesson plans and hopefully doing a little crochet.
It sure has been quiet here without the boys! I sure do miss them! They will be coming home tomorrow. I’m sure that they had a good time at the Grandparent’s house this week, but I’m ready to have my noise makers back and I’m sure Grammy and Grandpa will be ready to have their quiet back!
Next week if all goes well, I will be starting my diet. I’m really hoping to lose this weight once and for all! Keep me in your prayers!
Tomorrow is Marty and I’s 17th wedding anniversary!! So I most likely won’t be around at all tomorrow.
Well I’m off, I’ve got tons to do today!!
Just a quick note to wish my Dad a Happy Birthday!!! We love you!!!! Have fun with the boys this week!
